Waste Segregation Bin

Overview & Requirements

For this project, using Arduino components, construct a sensor-actuated waste bin that separates wet and dry trash. Utilize Arduino electrical components.

•Must separate wet and dry waste.

•Must be able to store trash in a safe environment.

•Bin must display fullness with LCD and LED lights.

Role:

Arduino Programmer

Servo motor specialist

Outcome & Lessons

This project functioned as intended, separating wet and dry trash. The software Tinkercad was crucial to this project, as it was used to simulate and program the motor. Though its sensors and actuators function as they should, the bin could have looked better aesthetically, for instance, by tying wires together for better organization and adding compartments to store components.

In doing this project, I gained valuable experience working with motors and programming in C++ with Arduino. I have also become very familiar with the software Tinkercad. I also gained experience working on an engineering team and further honed my teamwork skills. I was specifically responsible for coding and creating the Servo-motor system.
